The Kabbalah, an ancient religious manuscript to many but sought after and studied by the Knights Templar, it’s said they found the original in Palestine in King Solomon’s Temple, along with many other powerful and divine artefacts. Like the Arch of the Covenant and the Spear of Destiny to name a few.

To the trained occultist, it holds the secrets, the Tree of Life for example shows the patterns in sacred geometry, which incidentally, is found in the DNA of all living things, all without exception hold this pattern and it is in patterns and repetition’s that this magic, if understood can be unlocked.

Of course, I had a copy, an old one but not the original. As the story goes, it was the angel Raziel who gifted this text to humans, it contains science, astronomy, astrology all in code, all with multiple meanings, and interesting it contains information on atomic theory, solar systems and the spherical Earth. But as implausible as that seems to modern mortals, thinking how could people in the twelfth century know that, I conclude, the Greeks also had theories and wrote about atomic and molecular theories. Knowledge it seems makes leaps and bounds throughout history, is discovered, used then lost. Knowing the vast untapped power this sacred book holds, I had to devise a spell to not only defeat the Knights, using their own magic, but harder, the Grigori or The Watcher angels helping these damn knights.

However, this isn’t the first time I’ve run into them, so away from the chattering vampires, after casting more wards around my home, I’m locked in the basement pouring over a beautiful Kabbalah that cost me twice my weight in gold, some hundred years past.

Sweat beaded on my forehead, gnawing at my stomach wondering if she’s ok, but I have to concentrate, if I don’t get this right there’ll be no her, no me, no any immortal. And without the blood suckers roaming the night, the banshee looming around the shadows, well, mankind will be rife with evil doers unlike they’ve ever known.

So I took a sip of Yerba Mate tea, a tea drunk to relax and aid creativity, and tapped into the zone.

The key magical text is the Torah, written in Aramaic, and shit me my Aramaic is as good as Emma’s pronunciation of Latin!

Wiping my brow, I pulled my hair back and then realised I had to find my Aramaic translation guide, another old tome. Nothing’s straight-forward.

Freezing suddenly, I heard a strange noise, then I bolted up the stairs, fiddled with the old bronze key in the lock, sighing in relief as the door opened, I realized it was my phone!

It stopped as I picked it up, Emma! Trembling I called her back, my breathing heavy, old habits never die.

“Emma! You’re alright? Thank God…”

“Lucius, I haven’t got long. Amazarak has Luke, Sabian and the others. And the Nephilim, look I have to get a scroll for him, don’t ask, otherwise he’ll wipe everyone out. He thinks that I believe he freed Luke, Conor, Sabian and Ava.
